Demola Showcases Solutions Batch 1- 2017

After a successful first season in 2016, Demola Namibia kicked off on the 22nd of April 2017 with season 2. This season took the teams to the south of Namibia with 2 challenges, one provided by the Keetmanshoop Municipality to solve their waste treatment crisis, and the second one from a Finnish Consortium of Smart Communities piloting smart housing in Keetmanshoop. The two project partners have decided to license the projects for the next stage of research and development and eventual implementation.

Demola Jam: A creative twist to project implementation!

Demola Jam, which took place on Saturday, 6 August at the NCRST Innovation Hub, is an all-day event which brings together all Demola teams. During the day the teams all work together to keep respective projects moving smoothly and speedily, and help team members find the wow effect to show to the project partner! The purpose of the Jam was to assist teams to move their projects forward; get their team aligned; have fun and to learn how to use the Demola cycle.

The first official Demola  Kick-off event took place on  28 July 2016 at the NCRST Innovation Hub. The room was full of new talent with great energy. First Demola site in Africa launched in Namibia

Demola Network and The National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST) of Namibia entered into an agreement to establish the first African Demola; Demola Namibia.

“The major benefit of Demola Namibia is to the young Namibia populace through the development of an innovation culture, thereby increasing the wealth of the community. This will in turn also contribute to the creation of knowledge in the whole community, and stimulate the competitiveness of companies and the academic institutions involved”, said Dr Eino Mvula, CEO of the NCRST.
