The brief

The Keetmanshoop municipality’s ambition is to keep attracting private and public investors by building on its outlook. How would you address the issue of illegal dumping of waste in the municipal area of Keetmanshoop?

The background

Keetmanshoop is the biggest urban centre in the Karas Region. The town is attracting significant interest from the private and public investor. Some of the most significant investment projects on the horizon include the University of Namibia Campus, 420 upmarket residential plots and the 10 000 square meter retail centre funded by Old Mutual and as such, it is important that the town is kept clean to enhance its ambition in terms of attracting these very important investors.

The problem

It is a well-known fact that, for a town to attract investors, it needs to build on its outlook. Illegal waste has become a problem in the town and it does not reflect that well with the municipality’s ambition to keep attracting private and public investors. What is the most effective way to curb illegal dumping of waste?
